Gua Sha is an important hands-on medical treatment that has been used throughout Asia for centuries.
Oil is applied to the skin and a soft edged instrument is used to stroke the skin in a unilateral direction. The treatment is pleasant to receive and feels like a deep tissue massage, although very little pressure is applied. It has similarities to cupping, but allows the therapist to monitor the reaction to treatment and can thus be fine tuned to the needs of the patient.

Caroline, our current Reflexologist and massage therapist, has completed a professional ear wax removal training with UKMicrosuction. Ear wax removal via microsuction is considered safer and more effective than the traditional method of syringing. The completion of this certified training led by experienced clinicians from the NHS means Caroline can offer this valuable service to anyone suffering discomfort or hearing loss due to excess ear wax.
Our Homoeopath Therese graduated from the prestigious South Downs School of Homoeopathy in 2008 and is a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths.
As well as working in private practice since 2008, Therese joined Homeopathy in the Sussex Community (HISC) in 2012 where she has participated in three projects providing homoeopathy services, specialising in helping people with trauma related issues and mental health.
In October 2019, our Acupuncturist, Caroline, volunteered for the small charity Nepal Pain Relief, working in the Dolakha district of Nepal. She gained invaluable experience and administered in excess of 220 treatments in just 11 clinic days.
Our massage therapists combined are qualified in a range of different massage techniques. Massage is a treatment that uses different kinds of physical contact including stroking or kneading the skin and muscles to relax, revive and heal the body. Swedish massage can use a lighter touch used for relaxation and increased sense of wellbeing and Remedial can focus more on a specific area of muscle tension, aches and pains. Deep tissue uses firmer techniques and can incorporate the use of forearms.
