Gua Sha is an important hands-on medical treatment that has been used throughout Asia for centuries.
Oil is applied to the skin and a soft edged instrument is used to stroke the skin in a unilateral direction. The treatment is pleasant to receive and feels like a deep tissue massage, although very little pressure is applied. It has similarities to cupping, but allows the therapist to monitor the reaction to treatment and can thus be fine tuned to the needs of the patient.
Its powerful anti-inflammatory effect resolves spasm and pain, Increases circulation and range of movement, reduces oedema, promotes repair.
