A loose top, or vest is best for osteopathy, so the shape of your spine can be assessed. You would not normally need to undress down to underwear. although this may be necessary on the initial appointment, we have gowns to help you feel comfortable.

Pre Care Instructions
Prior to treatment ear wax needs to be softened using olive oil ear drops or spray.
If you wear hearing aids procedure is as follows- remove hearing aids as normal before bed. Administer a spray in each ear for 7 days.
Otherwise, spray is administered 3 times a day for three days.
We recommend Earol Olive Oil Spray which we stock priced £4.95.
We also recommend you put a covering on your pillowcase to protect it overnight from the oil.
Suspected Infection
Before you book your treatment, let us know if you have been experiencing ear pain, or if you think you may possibly have an infection. We will probably ask you to visit your GP or Pharmacist prior to your consultation, but if that’s not a suitable option for you, we can still inspect the ear canals to rule out any issues that may prevent or delay your treatment.
Sore Ears Before Wax Removal
If you are experiencing itchy, achy pain, this may be due to the amount of wax you have in your ear canal. Your removal treatment could resolve this.
Sore Ears Following Wax Removal.
This is extremely rare, however, if you have had a large amount of wax removed, then this soreness may just be due to the canals remaining very sensitive. This discomfort should only last a day or so. If the pain continues or is moderate to severe, please contact the clinic.
Having a ‘blocked ear’ sensation
When ears are blocked with wax for some weeks or months, pressure can build up behind the blockage causing a feeling of having cotton wool in the ear or a sensation of having blocked up ears. It is not unusual for the sensation of having a blocked ear for a few days following the wax removal, especially if warm water irrigation was used. However, if the feeling persists after a few days, please contact us for advice.
I had Irrigation, what aftercare do I need?
Following gentle warm water irrigation to clear your ear wax it is important to keep your ear canals dry to reduce the risk of infection from water-borne bacteria. The irrigation process can slightly dry the canals and strip the area of some of the natural oils secreted from inside the ear. The natural oils should return to normal levels after a few days. Ear plugs should be worn for three days following treatment when showering or washing hair.
I had Microsuction, what aftercare do I need?
After Microsuction there is no need to keep ears dry as the natural oil levels have not been affected, no other precautions or aftercare is needed.
Can I go swimming after irrigation and microsuction?
No swimming for three days after treatment.
Can you treat children for ear wax removal?
No we are currently offering treatment to patients aged 18 years and over.
Treatment Terms and Conditions
Ear Wax Removal via Microsuction/ Warm Water Irrigation is considered safer than other methods such as syringing. The ear wax removal will be carried out by our trained clinician Caroline.
Complications of ear wax removal are uncommon; however possible complications, side- effects, and material risks inherent in the procedure include, but are not limited to-
• Severely impacted/stubborn wax requiring a second visit
• Minor bleeding,
• Discomfort,
• Ringing in the ear (Tinnitus),
• Perforation of the eardrum

To ensure the risk of complication is minimised, it is essential that accurate past medical history is supplied to our clinician.
